Training Requirements |
| Woodbadge I Training is a required
course for all new leaders. This year, we are trying something new.
We would like all participants to register for the
online e-learning and do the
Orientation Module and the Core Module (Module 1) of the Woodbadge I
training. Our training event will concentrate on the
section-specific modules of the training. Please print out any
certificates that you earn online and submit them when you apply for the
Woodbadge I training course. Other, more advanced training courses are also offered. They include Winter Skills, Woodbadge II, Canoeing, First Aid and Trainer Development Courses. Scouters are encouraged to take these courses as they become available. The ideas and advice given on this and other websites do not take the place of proper training. It is intended that all Scouters take Woodbadge I training in their first year as a Scouter. Woodbadge II training is a higher level of training and is recommended for anyone who intends to remain in Scouting for the long term. Leaders must be properly trained for any activities that they and their section undertake. All sections must have an adequate number of Leaders trained in First Aid. If you have any ideas for training that you or your fellow Scouters would like to receive, please contact your Area Trainer. He or she wants to organize whatever training you feel that you need to organize safe, effective and interesting activities. |
| Portland United has arranged some training opportunities for its Rover Crew and Scouters. They have been kind enough to share some places in those training sessions with other Scouters. If your group is putting on any kind of training for your Scouters or Youth that might be of interest to other groups or individuals, please let us know so that others can share in the experience. |
